The next chapter

by Ludovic Rossignol-Isanovic

As the sun shines over London and summer hits its peak, we reflect on the launch of the very first edition of Balance Festival, which in May this year saw over 9,000 of you join forces to celebrate the city’s vibrant fitness scene and wellness movement.

Much more than a large-scale wellness festival, Balance was a pilgrimage for visionary fitness aficionados and mindful urbanites.  The Festival epitomized a new community of progressive Londoners united by their own personal values - a new lifestyle approach which fuses eating natural foods, fitness-as-a-way-of-life, a positive mind, a continuous thirst for self-improvement, social responsibility and mindful living.

The ‘live fit, healthy and happy’ movement was born.

Whilst the energy, drive and passion that emanated during the three-day launch Festival by far exceeded our expectations, the event also provided a wealth of insights into the new-born Balance community.

First and foremost, having conceptualised Balance Festival around four pillars (Food. Fitness. Wellness. Travel), we swiftly realised that our fitness programme was the main dish.  This year’s programme offered a highly diverse range of cutting edge signature workouts from London’s best studios packaged in 20-minute taster sessions allowing Balance visitors to step outside their comfort zone and try something new.

Second, the thirst for knowledge and personal development we witnessed was astonishing and on another level to what we had experienced in the last 10 years running festivals.  The Lab, Live Cooking Theatre and Food Market were constantly packed and the buzz was palpable – demonstrating that fresh-thinking and the sharing of actionable insights, all in the name of self-improvement and wellbeing, lies at the core of the Festival.

These observations have helped us refine our core mission as we design our big line-up for next year’s Balance Festival, returning to The Old Truman Brewery in London from 11 - 13 May 2018.  Next year, as we continue our quest to inspire people to achieve a more fulfilling life balance; expect no less than double the amount of boutique fitness studios (14 to be exact), a stronger emphasis on yoga and mindfulness, and a substantially larger Lab space featuring an enhanced educational programme delivered by thought leaders and world-renowned wellness experts.

What’s more…

We are gearing up for a grand tour, with the first Balance Festival Amsterdam landing 1 – 3 June 2018, the launch of Balance Retreats (summer 2018) and Balance Festival crossing the pond to reach the big apple (more on this soon) – we hope to see many of you join us for the next chapter of Balance.

But before delving into next year, 2017 is far from over…

Following the resounding success of The Balance Urban Tri in May at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Team Balance has conceptualised a brand new multi-stage event consisting of three fitness disciplines, big tunes and good vibes – The Urban Tri Reunion.

Taking place on 30 September all over the city and culminating at the Oval Space in London Fields for a grand finale HIIT session, The Urban Tri Reunion is set to celebrate the very best that London’s boutique fitness scene has to offer.

With over 10 different workouts to choose from and a heavy weight fitness line-up, it’s time to get your tickets and bid farewell to summer in style.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you, as always, for your generous support and feedback.
